Nordic Choice has been ranked the best hotel chain in the world for Wi-Fi.
The chain came top of the rankings in the Hotel Wi-Fi Test report, which focuses on Wi-Fi quality in hotel chains. The report looked at two characteristics of hotel Wi-Fi: the quality of the Wi-Fi and whether in-room Wi-Fi is free.
Nordic Choice, which has around 170 hotels in Scandinavia and the Baltic, scored 84.7% on quality, with free Wi-Fi at all of its properties. Radisson Blu came second in the rankings with a Wi-Fi quality score of 68.8% and free Wi-Fi at 95.2% of its hotels.
Renaissance came third, Mercure placed fourth, and the Ibis and ibis styles chain rounded out the top five.
Hampton Inn was the lowest ranked of the 50 global chains tested, with Wi-Fi quality of 8.6%, but a free service in 92.3% of its properties.
In the report, Wi-Fi quality is expressed as the percentage of hotels that offer adequate Wi-Fi quality in a given geographical area. Adequate WiFi is defined as an expected download speed of at least 3 Mbps and an upload speed of 500 kbps.
